In addition to the training provided by the Faculties there are a host of University training providers for postgraduate researchers.
The Careers Service runs a comprehensive calendar of events including careeers fairs, talks and workshops, recruiter events as well as online and interactive events.
The Library runs a programme of research skills including information searching and bibliographic referencing. Courses included Endnote, Scopus, and Web of Science.
The University Language Centre (ULC) runs academic writing workshops, postgraduate online writing clinics, an academic writing tutorial service and provides online resources such as the Academic Phrasebank.
UMIP (University Manchester Intellectual Property Limited) runs a series of annual seminars and has developed a set of practical guides for researchers (topics include IP and confidentiality, licensing, research contracts, academic materials and publishing, and spinout companies).

Research Computing Services (RSC) offers a range of courses to improve your skills in all aspects of research computing including programming, high-end computing, visualization, as well as an introduction to LaTex. RSC also provides support via online resources and a community wiki.
WiSET (Women in Science, Engineering and Technology) – a network for all female students, research and academic staff in the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences, host networking, social and skills training events.
