Whether your graduation is in sight or a distant possibility, spare a moment for your future career. This issue of STEPS considers some of the unique challenges and benefits of being a post-graduate researcher in today’s job market. Elizabeth Wilkinson, the Head of Post-graduate Career Development at the University of Manchester, opens with some great advice, whilst the rest of the issue provides some food for thought as we look at the questions and priorities that might govern our career decisions, and what others in our position have gone on to do. Our focus is, as ever, on post-graduate skills and training - whether it’s geared towards a career in academia or something entirely new. We consider that crucial mediator, the CV, and perhaps most importantly, alert you to some events and resources you may not have come across before.
